Blue Fountain

Stories by the Crossroads Writers Club of Fontainebleau

When a dozen writers from seven countries meet in France, the stories flow

A dozen writers meet in a forest clearing and begin swapping tales. One story begets another, and a trickle becomes a stream. The result is Blue Fountain, a collection of stories by the Crossroads Writers Club of Fontainebleau, France. The book is now available for preorder from local bookstores in advance of its October 25 publication date.

The authors of Blue Fountain come from seven different countries, and their 23 stories circle the globe. In them, you will meet a Japanese salaryman, a Colombian planter’s wife, and an African magician. You will visit the Italian countryside, a Corsican village, and a Welsh mining town. You will encounter a woodland prophet who quotes Shakespeare and a Kosovar seamstress who loves the Beatles. Some stories are based on real events, and some are pure fantasy, but all spring from a common source.

Fontainebleau, the group’s meeting place, is a name that resonates in French culture. The royal chateau was home to generations of rulers, and the surrounding forest is steeped in legend. Small wonder that such a place would draw together an eclectic group of storytellers and inspire their debut volume.

Reelbooks in Fontainebleau will offer a limited number of signed copies on a first-come, first-served basis. The bookstore will also announce local book signings and other special events.
